Consultant Health Economist

We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate individual to join our Health Economic Outcomes and Research (HEOR)  team as a consultant to support the health technology assessments of AI as a medical device and growth of Hardian’s HEOR department.

We recognise the vital importance of health economics in building credible evidence towards market adoption of novel technologies, and are excited about both the application of traditional modelling techniques as well as new areas of health economics research.

This consulting role is suitable for someone with training in health economics and strong prior client-facing experience in modelling and forecasting financial impacts, ideally with experience of NICE HTAs, who wants to help grow a software / AI focussed HEOR division within one of the UK’s leading healthtech consultancies. We are looking for someone who can bring in new ideas, build robust relationships with clients and deliver high-quality work.

Key responsibilities 

  • Managing and conducting HEOR projects end-to- end: Literature reviews, data extraction, evidence synthesis to inform conceptualisation of economic models and analysis, clinical stakeholder interviews, model development, report and manuscript preparation

  • Developing (or contributing to) health economic models e.g. budget impact, cost-effectiveness in Excel, R, TreeAge

  • Working collaboratively with the HEOR team and other company verticals

  • Contributing to the drafting of scientific publications and conference presentations - Hardian actively encourages the academic process.

  • Communicating and corresponding with clients

  • Managing of multiple projects simultaneously, some of which running across multiple years

  • Contributing  to the growth of our HEOR and market access department through pro-active business development and speaking engagements

Experience, qualifications and skills 

Required:

  • Passion for health tech, specifically the impact of AI within the UK NHS

  • Demonstrated experience in synthesising information from multiple sources (e.g. published literature and stakeholder elicitation) to develop health economic model specifications

  • Experience in producing discussion guides and conducting stakeholder interviews to validate modelling assumptions and the sources of model inputs

  • Demonstrated experience in developing health economic models in software packages such as R, Stata, Excel, TreeAge

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Health Economics, Health Policy,  Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related discipline

  • Previous consulting or client facing experience - at least 3 years

  • Strong quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Experience in NHS reimbursement, NICE HTA submissions

  • Right to work in the UK - Hardian Health does not sponsor visas

 Preferred:

  • Microsoft Excel VBA

  • Experience in non-UK market access

  • Experience in trial based-health economic evaluations
